How To Check In Metrc Packages

  • Last updated on October 30, 2023 at 10:31 AM

After your account has been integrated with the Metrc system, you need to make sure that all packages received through Metrc are checked into IndicaOnline correctly.

This will help you avoid discrepancies between the systems, monitor the actual state of your inventory, and report all the tagged sales in a timely manner.

Table of Contents:

Create a Product Profile

Before checking in a Metrc package, you need to make sure that your product list has a corresponding product profile.

Navigate to Inventory→Add New Product.                                                                                                                              a

question_icon.jpg Packages received through Metrc can be of two types: Units (ea) and Weight (g). Depending on the measurement type of a package, you will need to create different product profiles.

For a Weight Metrc product, a Weight or a Unit product profile with Net Weight specified can be created. The Each Only toggle in the product profile should be disabled.

question_icon.jpg In both cases, the sales will be reported to Metrc as weight.

For a Unit Metrc product, a Unit product profile should be created with the Each Only toggle enabled. Sales from such packages will be reported to Metrc as pieces.

att_icon.jpg To make sure that all the sales are reported correctly, the system will not allow you to change the Each Only setting after the product profile has been saved. If the Each Only toggle in the product profile does not correspond with the package type, IndicaOnline will prevent you from proceeding with the check-in.

In such a case you can either create a brand new product profile and hide the old one, or contact our Tech Support team to get further assistance.

question_icon.jpg To prevent mistakes when creating a product profile, you may want to set up the default state for the Each Only toggle. The setting is located under Config→Settings→Inventory. To enable Each Only for all product profiles that will be created from here on out, enable the Each Only Default State checkmark and hit Save at the bottom of the page.

Access Pending Packages

Before Metrc manifests can appear in your IndicaOnline, they need to be received in your Metrc account under Transfers→Incoming

There are two options in IndicaOnline to access packages coming from your Metrc account.

Manifests

On this page, the packages are organized by Manifest #, so it better reflects the actual process of receiving transfers from a vendor.

Navigate to Inventory→Manifests and click Synchronize to update the list. Click on the corresponding Manifest number to get to its details page.

The Manifest profile provides the list of the packages it contains.                            a

Pending Packages

The Pending Packages menu allows you to check in the received packages separately. This page may be more convenient in case you prefer to check in packages based on products, rather than manifests. Here you can also search for a particular Metrc UID number.

Navigate to Inventory→Pending Packages and click Synchronize to update the list of pending packages.

question_icon.jpg In case the manifest was received from a new vendor, you will also be prompted to assign the packages to a vendor. Click Assign to Existing if you already have a vendor profile with this license number in your IndicaOnline account. If you do not, click Add New Vendor.

att_icon.jpg In case the necessary product profile does not pop up on the list, make sure that it has the correct Each Only toggle setting and does not have any non-Metrc quantity in it.

Fill out the necessary information. When working with Metrc packages, you will notice that some details about the product will be pre-populated:                                                                                                                                                            a

Under the OTHER INFO section, you can add laboratory testing results and put the package on pause. Enabling the Put on Pause toggle will make package quantity unavailable until a certain date. To learn more about this function, please refer to our Put on Pause article. Click Continue

att_icon.jpg To minimize the chance of human error, IndicaOnline may also show an additional confirmation window with the main check-in details. To enable this setting, go to Config→Settings→Inventory and enable the Confirmation New Package checkmark.                                                                                                                                                                                         a                     check_in_Metrc_8.png

Verify That the Packages Were Checked In Correctly

Once a package has been checked in, it can be found either:

• under Inventory→Checked In Packages.

• or in the corresponding Product Profile under Packages.

Click the package number to access its profile. Use the buttons in the top right corner to manage your packages.

  • Print Label - When working with Metrc, you would always want to have the labels printed out for every package you receive.

  • Split - To learn more about this function, please refer to this article: How to Split Checked In Packages.

  • Adjust Quantity - The button will simply redirect you to the corresponding product profile.

  • Edit - Allows changing some of the package details.

  • Unlink -  In case you have not had any sales from the package, you can unlink it from the current product profile. The package will return to Pending Packages and can be checked in once more.

  • Finish - Finish the current package and decrease its quantity to zero.
